John W. Brazzell, MD
Dr. John W. Brazzell studied at Kentucky’s Murray State University, earning a bachelor of arts in 1972. He then attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine and graduated in 1976 with his medical degree. Dr. Brazzell completed his family practice residency training at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Dr. Brazzell worked in emergency medicine at Lourdes Hospital from 1985 to 2012. He joined ARcare and KentuckyCare in 2012.
Robin Floyd, MD
Troy Nelson, DO
Dr Troy Nelson earned his Medical degree at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001. Dr Nelson completed an internship and residency with the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center from July 2001- June 2004.
Dr Nelson is Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.
David E. Smith, Jr., MD
Dr. Smith is a family medicine physician with KentuckyCare, and has been with us since 2014. Dr. Smith is passionate about treating all patients equally, regardless of their ability to pay. When he isn’t providing care to his patients, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his wife and his two daughters. If you want to talk sports, he’s all ears—his favorites are golf and basketball! He is also a devoted member of a small church, serving as deacon and worship leader.
Dan Miller, MD
Emily Jones, RN, MSN, FNP
Family Nurse Practitioner
Emily obtained her bachelor of science in nursing at Murray State University (Kentucky) in 2007 and her master of science in nursing at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee in 2010. After completing her master’s degree, Emily was board certified as a family nurse practitioner.
Emily has a wide range of nursing experience. While pursuing her masters, she worked at a dialysis clinic in Martin, Tennessee. Prior to joining KentuckyCare in 2011, Emily worked in both a chiropractic and a pain care office in Paducah, Kentucky.
Darrye Jackson, APRN, FNP
Darrye has been in nursing since 1975, when she graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. She continued her education, earning a master of science in nursing from the University of Evansville in Indiana in 1980.
In 1999, Darrye returned to school at the University of Missouri in St. Louis, where she completed post-graduate studies to become a licensed family nurse practitioner. Darrye joined the KentuckyCare team in 2012.
Gregory Kingston, APRN
Gregory earned a bachelor of science in nursing from Murray State University in 1989. He then received his master’s degree in nursing from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1997. Prior to joining KentuckyCare, Gregory’s previous positions include working at Jackson Purchase ER Physicians for over 12 years and Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Melanie Barber, APRN
As a Nurse Practitioner at KentuckyCare, Melanie appreciates the bond that she develops with the patients that she treats. She has a heart for rural medicine, and has also worked with nonprofits in Guatemala to provide medical and surgical care to people in indigenous areas. Melanie is married and has two children.
